NapWar: Getting Started is a NapWar post from: Fog of War: Napoleonic War

Getting started in NapWar is very easy. First sign up and chose a username and password, and add your email address. Your choice of gender affects your avatar, but other than that makes no difference in-game. You can also chose where you want your first city to be on the game map, but it makes little difference, all the areas are fairly similar. Once your signed in to NapWar, your inbox will contain a few system messages, but they’re not important.

In the bottom right of the screen you’ll see the quest icon. Get started on the quests, they’re the best way to learn how to play the game, and they’ll ensure that your city grows quickly. Most of the quests give good rewards, occasionally they’ll exceed what you expended in completing the quests. However be sure to check the rewards for the quests, and aim to finish the quests that give you the highest amount of resources compared to the cost of completing the quest. In NapWar it’s a good idea to complete the resources quests early on in the game, so that your production is well underway before you need any military units.

Scouts move quickly across the map and are useful mainly for harassing other scouts and performing reconnaissance. Begin exploring the map with your scouts, and occupy any of the Realms of Power that you find (any fortresses, towns, provincial capitals or royal capitals) by doing so your resource production and storage increases.

You’ll want to begin raiding the players around you as soon as they run out of beginner protection, focusing on the weaker, army-less players in particular, scout extensively to find the best targets. In your first army, you need peasants, they carry loot back when you raid another player, be sure that you have infantrymen with them, as peasants are only good at carrying loot. The infantryman is effective against peasants, scouts and other infantryman.

With a level 2 barracks you can train billmen, they’re very effective against mounted units (as is standard with spear wielding troops in RTS games). You won’t need many in your first army, as there will be few mounted units around. Train many grenadiers for your first army, they’re effective against all foot units, and will provide invaluable offensive and defensive capabilities early in the game.

This pretty much covers starting out in NapWars, good luck.

Cheats for NapWar is a NapWar post from: Fog of War: Napoleonic War

Here is a list of known cheats for Fog of War: Napoleonic War (NapWar). There aren’t many tricks and cheats although there are some gliches and loopholes that can be exploited.

As mentioned in an earlier post about how to get loads of napwar gold fast. This is done by putting your tax rate at 95% and every 20 minutes doing a pacify and Observation to keep your Loyalty at 100% while taxing the crap out of your peasants. This is a good cheat for NapWar as you can do a lot with the gold, from having more research than other game players, or by buying resources off other players to advance your city. This works even better when you have masses of high level cottages all over your city map. Don’t build too many though as you’ll need space for up to 8 barracks to train your troops really fast.

Alliance for profit. To get a lot of prestige very quickly, getting into an alliance is a great way to get 1000 prestige. If the NapWar Alliance you get into has more than 80 members then you will get prestige bonuses all the way up to 1000 prestige. If you are cunning enough, you could even convince a napwar alliance leader to accept your invitation purely for this, and once you’ve handed in all your quests and got your free prestige, then you can get kicked out of the alliance, which doesn’t lose you any prestige. If you quit the alliance, you will lose 25% prestige.

Emphasising on technology. If you emphasise on technologies that will give you a bonus in battle like Medicine, Military Tactics, Military Philosophy, and most importantly Ballistics, this will give you a massive edge in attacks or attacking other game players. This is often far overlooked by people scouting and trying to make a hit on you, so quite often they will send not enough troops to break through your defences and you will win the engagement, which will give you big bonuses in prestige.

Scout defence. If an enemy can’t scout you, then they won’t attack you. No one wants to send an army against someone else that might or might not have a massive army waiting for them. To defend with scouts, you will need a massive number of scouts, we’re talking 10k or more. Then when someone is trying to scout you, your scouts will kill them all and they won’t get a scout report. This not only lets you know who is looking at you (if your beacon tower is high enough level) but also forces the agressor to train some more scouts before sending them against you again, which buys you enough time to call in one of your armies, or to mount a charge against them!

Scout transports. Another Napwar trick or cheat is to use scouts as transports. NapWar scouts move at stupidly quick speed, and can deliver small payloads in a very short amount of time. If you are going to be sitting watching the game for a little while, then you can send a number of scout transports in the same time it would take to send a convoy transport. Scout transports work well if you’re using the Scout Defence mentioned above, or if you need resources very quickly, like if a city is running out of food, or if you need a couple thousand iron ore to train some more troops.

If you have a cheat or a trick for evony, put it in a comment, we at FoWNapWar.com will research and trial it and give you credit if we think its good enough to put up on this site.

We’re happy to announce the launch of our long-anticipated Battlefield. It is a series of quests based on an actual historical event involving Napoleon himself. You will be able to engage in these quests by yourself or invite your friends to join you. There can be up to a total of 5 participants in this event. What’s the benefit? First, the battles are a lot of fun and you can earn Battlefield honor points which can be used to purchase battlefield items in the store.

We will be giving all player 2 Communication Tower, 2 Forced March and 2 Order of Pardon to experience the Battlefield. So now is the time to prepare your armies, muster the troops, and raise the call to arms. Battlefield is open!

If you have received a message similar to this one, then you need to refresh your NapWar browser window to reload the game. Login to Napwar and then click the Battlefield button at the top.

You need a military rank to reach or exceed Private to open the battlefield.

There are a few videos out already of the Napoleonic War Game. Nap War has only been out for just over a month, but the Nap War Beta was going for a long time before it so players were ready when the game actually kicked off on the 18th of October. Soon after fans have started making Nap War Youtube videos. Here are some of the better movies to showcase what has been done. Feel free to add a comment if you’d like us at FoW Nap War to add your video. Also give us a brief description of what your video is doing.

Other types of Nap War videos we need are attacking and pillaging wildernesses, attacking NPC towns, setting up your tactics and lots of battles where you overthrow a superior force.

We will be holding a competition for the best video that shows a small force outmanouver and outsmart a larger force and come away with a great Nap War victory!

NapWar Treasure Map is a NapWar post from: Fog of War: Napoleonic War

An interesting feature of Fog of War: Napoleonic War is the invention of treasure maps. Treasure maps can be found inside other treasure boxes or found while gathering on a wilderness map square. To decode the NapWar treasure map you need to Appraise it in your Public House. It will cost 10 coins or some vouchers to Appraise a treasure map.

Once Appraised, you will get a new Report come in your “Others” report box. This will say something like:

After appraisal, the location of treasure is in Desert[288,121]. Treasure will be picked after an hour’s gathering. Take action now. It will disappear in 24 hours. The remaining time: 209-11-20 23:32:12.

Then you need to attack and occupy that Desert, and do a gather while your troops are still there. After an hour you can do a Pick and you will pick up the treasure!

When NapWar tells you to act now, you really should. Quite often with NapWar the sands shift and so do the Map wildernesses. There are a lot of people noticing that once they’ve occupied a level 5 wilderness, in a day or two the wilderness will be down to a level 2. Sometimes the levels go the other way too, in the example NapWar wilderness above, it started off as a level 1 Desert, but 10 hours later it was a level 10 wilderness, so was completely unobtainable by any but the highest prestige ranked players.

Fog of War Napoleonic War is suffering the same problems that other browser based MMORPGs. A lot of people are having problems logging in now, and this is because the NapWar people are upgrading their base server. The game servers are still ticking over in the background.

You can go directly to your game server if you remember which server it is. By going to 3.napwar.com it will take you straight to server 3. So all you need to do is remember which NapWar server you’re playing on. If you still can’t login to NapWar then there are a few other strategies to try.

If you can’t Login to Napwar, try a few things like shutting down your browser window and starting a new one. Or try to Login on another browser like Firefox. Rebooting the PC can help with login problems or sometimes rebooting your router could help.

The biggest tip is to Bookmark your game! When you’re playing the URL is direct to your NapWar server, so if you bookmark that one, then it is the server you can log directly into and play Fog of War: Napoleon War.

I think the Evony Developers have finally nailed down most of the lag issues that are usually rampant in MMORPGs to date. There still is some lag issues, but they’re quite minor.

NapWar Research is a NapWar post from: Fog of War: Napoleonic War

Here is a guide to some of the research available in Fog of War: Napoleonic War. I’m a big fan of personal research, searching google for hints and tips for games. A good way to search is basic “napwar” or “fog of war napoleon war” or if you want to learn about something specific, then search for something like “napwar research” or “napwar tactics”.

In the NapWar game, researching technology is one of the best ways to advance your game. Each new technology gives you some prestige, and if you’re completing the quests, then you’ll often get your hard earnt gold returned to you after spending it on researching a new NapWar technology.

If you are wondering what you should upgrade, a good way to start is to look at your quests and to see if there is something in there that will get you a gold refund. Otherwise have a look around your city and see what you want to upgrade. For instance, if you’re wanting to start building Musketeers, then you’ll need Ballistics level 1. To get the Ballistics technology you’ll need to upgrade other technologies, in this case, Recruit Training level 4. After you’ve researched ballistics, then you can start making the very dangerous Musketeers.

Getting to a level 4 technology is quite expensive, further down, I’ll talk about how to get enough NapWar gold to keep your research pumping.

Having better technology than your foe is a massive advantage. If you have Ballistics level 4 and the person attacking you has Ballistics level 3, then your long range attackers get a free shot before the enemy does. This is a massive advantage as if you have similar or equal number of long range attackers, having that extra 10% range on your long range attacks could mean the difference between winning and getting slaughtered.

Other technologies that are great to upgrade is scouting, as you’ll get better scout reports back. Resource upgrades are great as everyone needs resources. Troop speed doesn’t really make a difference until you’re huge and trying to do multiple attacks on the one person while someone else is attacking you.

Research can be expensive. Each new NapWar technology level gets higher and higher cost. To fund your research you can apply a tactic that works great, but needs baby sitting. How to do it is: Set your tax rate to something extremely high, like 95% tax rate. Then every 15 mins, nearly as soon as the timer runs out click on your Town Hall, click Pacify and do an Observation. It will cost you some food, but it will keep your loyalty high. Keeping your loyalty above 90% will keep your peasants happy, and with tax rate of 95% should get you enough NapWar gold to keep your NapWar research going. There is a drawback of this. If you leave it at 95% tax rate and go to bed, you’re likely to have no peasants when you wake up. I suggest setting your taxe rate to something nicer like 5 or 10% overnight, and when you’ve got time to babysit and Pacify every 15 mins or so, then set it to 95% and make some NapWar research money.

NapWar Prestige is a NapWar post from: Fog of War: Napoleonic War

Prestige is the main ranking system for Fog of War Napoleonic War. You can gain Prestige in a number of ways. Your prestige will go up when you build or upgrade buildings, when you get rewards from some quests, when you attack wilderness and especially when you attack other players.

Quite often to get into a good alliance, you need to have a certain amount of prestige, to show that you know how to play the game. This might be 2,000 prestige, or might be 5,000 prestige for example. This is a quick guide on how to get 2,000 prestige within 2 days of playing NapWar.

2,000 prestige is easily achieved within 2 days. But you do need to work at it. You will need to keep the NapWar game window open throughout the day, or be able to go in there every 15 minutes or so to check on it and to kick off more buildings/upgrades/technology. If you’re committed to making 2,000 prestige or more within the first 2 days then this is how you do it.

The easiest and best way to get prestige at the start of NapWar is to go through the newbie quests. When you first enter the game and chose to do noobie quests you should familiarise yourself with the screen layout and buttons etc. and then find the NapWar Quest button.

Have a look through ALL the quests on your Quest window. Read through each one and try and find one that is easy to do. Easy quests are ones like changing your heraldry, changing tax rate, doing comforting and levying. One tip with levying is don’t do it in a row. There is a 15 minute cool down on using levys and don’t feel you need to do one straight after the timer runs down. If you wait at least an hour then the loyalty that the levy decreases might have a chance to return. If your NapWar loyalty goes down too much, then your population will leave, and the rest of your city will suffer.

Once you’ve done some of the easy quests, have another read through the quest list and see what needs to be built to win a quest. If you notice in the rewards window, the rewards for building or upgrading a building will be similar if not more than the resources you spent on the upgrade. Building ONLY what is in a quest will mean you will keep getting back the resources spent, so you can keep rolling with building more and more and increasing your city and your prestige.

Keep building, upgrading, researching and most importantly keep checking your quest window and keep clicking down the quests, as there may be a hidden NapWar completed quest that you can turn in for a reward.

Timing is the key when building like this. Watch the timers and try and do upgrades or buildings that have similar times, that way you can leave the NapWar game window for a while and come back after that time to upgrade a different building.

To do the NapWar Alliance quest, a good suggestion is once an hour post in the world chat window saying something like “very active player looking for friendly alliance” or something similar. Try and sell yourself a bit. If you join an alliance that already has 50 players then you’ll get bonus gold and bonus prestige!

If you do all this, and check your NapWar game window every 15 minutes or so then you should be over 2,000 prestige within 2 days of playing.

Theres a new game out by the makers of Evony Free Forever. Fog of War Napoleonic War is a new role playing game made by developers at UMGE. At first glance you might be forgiven for thinking it was a new skin of Evony, or the new Evony 2 that there are rumours about. NapWar is a brand new game, stand alone from Evony.

After creating your Free Forever NapWar account which is very simple and quick as there are no confirmation emails or anything like that. You start your game by chosing a name, which province to start in. If you have friends already in the game, ask them which province they’re in and start there too, this will give you a boost as they can send you aid and you can join together in an alliance.

Once in the game you can start seeing the similarities between NapWar and Evony Free Forever. The layout is extremely similar, the difference being instead of the main window being on the left, its now on the right. There is still the 3 main views – City, Rural and Map. The City map has your town center in the middle, and empty squares around it. Rural looks the same too as there are squares to build your 4 different types of resources. Food, lumber, stone and iron. Map is where you can see your fort and all the resource squares like lakes, mountains, plains, forrest, desert. These are so close to Evony that people who have played evony for even 1 day would be able to know how to play NapWar.
